  • Leadership is an Action!

Posted October 13, 2015 by Eden Lovejoy

Do you have the idea that leadership is a unique trait that some people are just born with?  Actually, every person, no matter their behavioral style or personality type, has the ability to lead.  Leadership is more about the daily action we are taking than it is about the inspirational speech at the front of the room.  In fact, an inspirational speech can do more harm than good if it’s not followed up with action consistent with the content.

Your employees don’t need you to give them a high spirited pep talk once a week nearly as much as they need you to model your values and your company mission and vision each and every day.  Talking about customer service is not nearly as important as modeling, reinforcing and rewarding good service.  Talking about family values is meaningless if employees Leadershiphave a hard time scheduling time away for important family functions.  The key to being a leader people will follow is consistency.

When you are clear about what is important to your business and you are consistent in modeling, reinforcing and rewarding the behavior that demonstrates what is important, you will build loyalty and dedication in your team.  Every time.  If that’s not working for you, then there is some disconnect between what you have communicated and how your company is operating.  I’d love to tell you how I can help you clarify that and quickly get your team engaged.  Give me a call at 907-375-8777!
